VOA Africa Interviews ACTT Founder on Skills Development

Inspired by the need for more professional and skilled technical workers, Penelope Brooke Thompson set out to launch a skills training centre in Ghana.

Paul Ndiho from VOA Africa had a conversation with our Founder, Penelope Brooke Thompson on leveraging technology to bridge the technical skills gap and create access to jobs and decent livelihoods. 

The 2021 population census in Ghana established that out of the employed population 15 years and older, 27.3% are employees, 60% are self employed without employees and 6.7% are self employed with employees. We believe that investing in TVET will tip this scale by firstly increasing the size of population that is employed in general, and secondly moving more people into the self employed with employees group.
