Penelope Brooke Thompson is the Founder & President of African Centre for Technical Training (ACTT) – a modern technical and vocational training institute building the workforce infrastructure for Africa’s industrial transition. She holds a BA in Economics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and an MBA in Finance from Coventry University, where she graduated top of her class.
Having led nationally significant infrastructure projects in Ghana, Penelope brings deep expertise in systems, technology, and execution while building a team rooted in local leadership and global expertise. She recognizes the transformative potential of skills training, and envisions ACTT as a technology-driven hub, providing a platform for skilled, job-ready artisans, technicians and creatives across Africa.
Penelope received the “Extraordinary Leader Transforming a Field” award and funding from Unorthodox Philanthropy (a US-based charitable organization) and sits on the Youth Advisory Board for British Council Sub-Saharan Africa. She was also awarded for promoting skills development at the 10th Ghana Women of Excellence Awards by Ghana’s Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection. In just 3 years, ACTT is currently the Overall Best TVET Provider (1st Runner Up) at the pre-tertiary level in Ghana, honoured by Ghana’s regulator and promoter of skills CTVET.
