Restoring Forests, Empowering Communities, and Ensuring a Sustainable Future
The FORestore project addresses the urgent global challenge of deforestation by focusing on sustainable
forest management, restoration techniques, and building green sector skills. Our initiative brings together
a diverse group of organizations to develop tailored vocational education and training (VET) solutions,
empowering individuals and communities to take action in restoring vital ecosystems. With a strong
emphasis on Sub-Saharan Africa, we aim to raise awareness, foster environmental stewardship, and
contribute to the EU-Africa Global Gateway’s green transformation goals.

OUR GLOBAL NETWORK OF EXPERTISE
The FORestore project, spanning 24 months, brings together a diverse group of partners from Europe and Africa, specifically from Slovakia, Italy, Greece, Nigeria, Uganda, Ghana, Somalia, and Cameroon, all united by a shared commitment to tackling deforestation and promoting sustainable forest management. Each partner plays a key role in shaping the project’s success, from knowledge exchange to on-the-ground impact. The consortium includes universities, training organizations, and NGOs from Europe and Africa. We all contribute unique expertise in environmental sustainability, vocational education, and reforestation efforts. Through cross-border collaboration, FORestore strengthens skills, develops innovative curricula, and empowers communities to tackle deforestation challenges effectively.
TARGET GROUP
The FORestore project is designed to support a wide range of individuals and organizations involved in sustainable forest management and restoration. Our target groups include:
Learners & Students: Empowering the next generation with the knowledge and skills for careers in
environmental sustainability and forestry.
Vocational Education and Training (VET) Institutions: Strengthening their capacity to provide
specialized training in green sector skills and sustainable forest management.
Educators & Trainers: Providing innovative tools, resources, and methodologies to enhance
environmental education and capacity-building efforts.
Local Communities: Engaging individuals and groups who depend on forests, empowering them with
the tools and knowledge to implement sustainable forestry practices.
Environmental Stakeholders & Policymakers: Collaborating with policymakers, environmental
NGOs, SMEs, and industry professionals to promote forest conservation and sustainable development.
Through collaborative efforts with these diverse target groups, FORestore aims to combat deforestation and promote sustainable forest management, driving positive environmental and economic change.

KICK OFF MEETING
The FORestore project held its Kick-off Meeting on April 28–29, 2025, in Zvolen, Slovakia, bringing
together nine partners from Europe and Africa. Participants discussed the project’s workflow,
next steps, and planned future meetings, reinforcing their commitment to strengthening forest
regulations and fostering international collaboration.
